The Sacred Heart is always looking for people who would be willing to help the church in its many activities. If you would like to volunteer some of your time to one or more of the activities below then please contact Canon Denis either directly or via email
Reading at Mass
Readers required to read the Gospel and bidding prayers at weekend Masses. Scheduled on a rota basis.
Singing
The church is always looking for talented singers to join the church choir, “The Sacred Heart Singers”.
Altar Serving
Boys and girls who have received their first holy communion are welcome to become altar servers to cover 9:00 and 11:00 am Masses in Flitwick and working to a rota. Full training provided.
Helping with Youth Activities
Adult helpers required to support a dedicated team that run the First Communion Preparation Group, the Confirmation Group and various other Youth Groups.
Church Cleaning
Join a small but dedicated group of volunteers who clean the church on a rota basis.
Providing after Mass refreshments (11:00 Mass)
Helpers needed to prepare tea, coffee and biscuits for the congregation after 11am Mass.
Drivers
Provide transportation for parishioners who are unable to get to and from Mass. Drivers are scheduled on a rota basis.
Welcomers at Mass
Meeters and greeters to welcome the congregation and to distribute missalettes, hymn books and newsletters.
Church Collection
To assist with church offertory collections and on occasions retiring collections.
St Vincent DePaul
The SVP aims to reach out to those in need in our own parish and in the wider world. The group meets every Monday evening at the church.
Parish Management Group
The PMG assist Fr Denis in administration and organisational duties as well as co-ordinating and directing other church groups.
Music at Mass
The church is always looking for talented people who can play musical instruments especially the organ.
Little’uns
Adults needed to help the pre school children have fun on a Friday.
Social Activities
Help needed to arrange church social events including fund raising, outings and other activities.
Communication Action Group
CAG members are responsible for creating the church magazine, Ticker, church information booklet, web site and weekly newsletters.
Property
The Property group undertakes minor day to day maintenance activities for the church and liaise with the diocese on property related matters.
Faith Development
The RCIA Group (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is for those who wish to learn more about the Christian faith with Catholic traditions.
